Seven years away — then seen the next day.
Sara hadn't been to a dentist in seven years. A couple of her top-right front teeth had slowly started to overlap, and she was nervous about going. She signed up for a plan through Dental Sidecar at 11 PM, and in this example an office could see her by noon the next day.
At the visit she got a cleaning and a free exam, and the office did some first-day work to help with emergency tooth pain. She left without paying anything up front, on an initial plan. Through her first few visits she didn't owe anything; on a later visit she paid a small $5 co-pay (she swiped it on Cash App — a friend had spotted her the cash).
Her exam — about 15 minutes — produced a two-step treatment plan. After preventive and basic care, she had a little major work left, and on the kind of ~50% coverage typical of U.S. plans, her share for that step came to about $70. She had a tough month making it on time, but financing options sorted it out in seconds, and over roughly half a year she paid that ~$70 off comfortably.
She kept going to the office she likes in her city, got whitening and her preventive care, and now manages both of her kids' dental cards in one place. Finally getting the care she needed — that was the whole point.
This is an illustrative scenario to show how the product can work. Timing, availability, costs, coverage, and approvals vary by office, plan, and location.
